HBO's Temple Grandin movie won big at the 2010 Emmy's tonight and can I just say, I couldn't be happier.
I'm not a movie reviewer or a celebrity blogger, so I won't attempt to do either. But, may I just say, if you have not had the great fortune to see HBO's movie Temple Grandin, sharing some of the life of the autism advocate (living with autism) herself, please do.
Don't wait. It is worth the dollars to purchase or rent it (if money is tight, see it with a group of friends & split the cost). It is worth the time as you will come away with a richer understanding of not only people with autism and their families, but of humanity as a whole.
As I have mentioned before, autism is part of our family, part of our daily lives. And so, yes, this has personal meaning to me. But, I do believe it is something everyone should see and I hope you do. If you haven't already, please do meet a hero, Temple Grandin.

Yeahoooooooo! I was thinking quite similarly as this WONDERFUL movie swept the Emmys tonight! Sadly, my local video store DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT when I requested it! Bet they'll stock it NOW! Yeah, yee haw and YEAHOOOOO for all of you devoted {stubborn!} and GRIZZLY BEAR strong mothers out there! I'm humbled by your fortitude and HONORED by your friendship! Wahoooo!
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on this one! Temple Grandin is the reason for a lot of how those of us handle our Livestock in the Natural Meats business. She is a genius and developed some great animal handling techniques for when working in corrals and going to slaughter. She is a great woman.
ReplyDeleteAmen to all of it! Temple Grandin is a leader in human spirit and I am so glad this story has been shared with the world through such a fine movie offering. After last night's awards, I hope her example is spread even further!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have heard of it (I've been WAY out of the loop with my current events lately), but based on your recommendation alone I will definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that a movie that obviously means so much to so many people got the recognition that it deserves!
I've never heard of her, I hope the movie comes out in Italy too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you told me about this movie when it originally ran. Totally put into pictures how I've imagined a specific person with autism I know and love sees things, because the sanp-shot vision is exactly how they explain stories. Did that sentence make sense??
ReplyDeleteWe have HBO and I watched it when it premiered and I thought it was a wonderful movie.
