Creative Yarn {To Go}

Wee girl loves to write her letters & draw her tales while I'm driving and she's cruising in her carseat in the back.  She used to be limited to a pencil, as a box o' crayons made me nervous...a kind of "Oh, I don't want to clean melted crayon off my car!" kind of nervous.  But, not anymore.  Ya wanna know why??

Grammie found a free knitting pattern on the Lion Brand Yarn site for a cute little crayon caddy and began throwing blue, green, yellow, and red to quick work.

Unrolled and open, she has enough colors to work with (in this case a few Disney Princess crayons, of course! lol) and when she's done, its easy to see that she has all of them in her crayon caddy and not leaving any behind to melt!

All rolled up, its self contained and small enough to slip into a bag or purse to give wee girl oodles of creative entertainment.  And since she sings as she colors, while we drive, I get my share of sweet entertainment too!

    

Come! Meet Primrose!!

Our sweet Princess was treated to Primrose, made by Grammie (my Mom), this Christmas. Look at that sweet face! Her pretty petite flower makes me smile......and you know how much I love that!

Primrose, a most adorable bunny makes my daughter smile too! Now, I'm not a knitter, but as someone who appreciates handmade and creating in general, of course I wanted to know more and I thought some of you might too. :>

Mom bought the pattern to knit Primrose from Mary Jane's Tearoom over at etsy. I asked Mom what she thought about the quality of the pattern and she said that, "Her directions are meticulous! Excellent!" I thought that was high commendation since I often hear her grumbling about errors in knitting patterns. Apparently, Primrose was a delight to knit!

Can you believe how cute this bunny is??!! And even cuter, her sweet little sweater, shorts, tights, and shoes??!! I can't stand it......too too CUTE!!!

And even a fluffy bunny tail for sweet Primrose. There is even a hole in her shorts, just for that sweet fluff!

Susan, the creator of these knitted treasures at Mary Jane's Tearoom, also has a BLOG, where her most recent post lets us know that Susan is donating 80% of her proceeds from her Primrose sales to Help for Haiti through the campaign at the popular knitting and crocheting site, Ravelry, through the month of January.

And soon enough....when Mom finishes it for my boy, we'll have Oscar (another one of Susan's patterns that Mom bought) to meet! His clothes are finished, but he is still in need of his bunny body. Thought you just might like a peek! :>

Who says a card has to Open?!

Not me!! I've been thinking about it and a Postcard is simply a card that is posted through the mail without an envelope and does not open. So, I do not think it is definitively necessary for a card that does travel by envelope to have to open. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Quite some time ago, I colored in this Knitabella from Stamping Bella with Prismacolor markers and colored pencils. Do not ask me about the colors I chose because not only can I not remember, but I'm not even sure why I would have chosen these particular colors. I do, however, suspect that I colored her in for a color challenge for which the deadline passed and never finished her up. Well, I just could not have a colored in image haunting me anymore!

Initially, I thought I would detail cut her out, but then went this route. I used my handy dandy Coluzzle (I have the EK Success circle cutter and a Cricut, but I must say, I do love just how fast and easy it is to pull out my trusty Coluzzle.....why, oh why, did Provo Craft discontinue it?!) and cut her into a circle and then matted her with some Raspberry Fizz. Here is where I say, that if I had some of those beautiful Nesties, I would most definitely have used them. But, I don't, so I went with what I do have. And here is where I tell you that this card does Not open!! I matted the Fizz circle onto the next size up circle in Lemon Tart and cut one more Fizz circle in the same size as the first one and adhered that to the back of the Lemon Tart to write on. A flat, non-opening card!

Would you like to know my reasoning? Hmmmm? Ooo, well since we'd be diving further into this brain o' mine....maybe not. Oh what the hey, I promise we won't go deep at all! So, when I cut her into a circle, I realized she just didn't look right on a rectangular card, or a square one for that matter. I thought about putting her on a circle Open-able (okay, so its not a word, but it came out of my head and typed its way on my keyboard....so I'm stickin' to it!) card, but that just wasn't sitting right with me and that's when I started thinking about what it means to be a flat, non-opening Postcard. Both my Mom and my Hubby quite often let out rather large pointed sighs at my 'ability' (let's just call it that, shall we? thank you!) to argue semantics and after having this argument in my head....with myself, guess what?! I won!

Add a little hand stitched "hi" and voila! A flat, non-opening, circle card to pop into the mail to......none other than my knitting Mom! Since Knitabella was already colored (again, why in those colors, I cannot say!) and there is not much to this (other than a linguistic argument with myself), she took no time at all!

My Monkeyman has a birthday party to go to late this afternoon with lots of kids and water balloons, one that he is so excited to attend that he woke me up an hour and a half early this morning. A wee bit excited?! Now, how much do you want to bet that all of us adults will end up wet too?? I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday and that you find a little time to play. :>

Knitted Sweets & A Hippity Hop!

Time is a concept that always seems to amaze me! When I was a teenager, I remember thinking that ninety years old would probably approach faster than the next couple of years. When you are waiting for a certain time to come (like a sixteenth birthday or graduation back then) time passes so slowly. And then when you are either really busy or even simply trying to slow down time to cherrish treasured moments with a loved one, time just speeds on by! I know its a cliche, but that's what is on my mind this morning as I'm realizing May arrives on Friday!

Two sweet delights were waiting in my daughter's Easter basket from my Mom, her Grammie. Mom was excited to find a great way to use the smaller left over amounts of yarn from other various projects. And I am just tickled that the pink beads and two blingy buttons on the cupcakes are from my grandmother's collection. So now, I am watching my daughter have tea parties with her princesses using cupcakes made by her Grammie with treasures from her Great Grandma on them. It just warms my heart. The bears were not from my Grandma's collection, but are vintage. Aren't these just so sweet?!

Mom wanted to make sure that her grandson had something fun too. Knowing that he loves bunnies right now, she knitted one for him! She said the knitting was simply a square that is folded and tucked a bunch of different ways. Since I don't knit, it looked pretty amazing to me! :> Thank you for your hand crafted goodness! :>
