Keep Calm and Write On

Oh no, I think I may have disappeared into that Fantasy Land that I was wishing for!  Actually, that cold my wee girl had came and visited me when it was nearly done with her.  And, of course, it took up residence in my face, nose & throat the week I was getting ready for my inlaws' visit to celebrate my kidlet's birthday.  (Yes, Murphy and I are grande friends! ;>)

So, now it's time to play catch up!  And I can't think of a better way to get started than to show you a little something I won from the uber fabulous, Mandy of In Mandyland, during her bloggiversary celebration week (yes, it was awhile ago...told you I was playing catch up!).

Keep Calm and Write On

I picked up an inexpensive frame at Michael's and currently, it stares at me from across my living room, reminding me to click clack across the keyboard.  And though I haven't blogged since that cold started squatting in my head, I have been writing.  So this Etsy print is doing its job!

When you have a moment and your favorite cuppa, click your way over to Fictional Mandyland to read some of her juicy Hidden Hollow series or read how she corrupts the blueberry or read a piece that's on my rather long list of favorite Mandy posts.

While you're getting your proper does o' Mandy, follow her on Twitter too...she's witty, funny, and the Queen of the Hashtag.  She is so Worth the Click and I'm sure you'll love your time there.  Tell her I said hello! :>

Friday Fun with Cartoon Inspiration

The firestorm of cartoon character debates that flew through our living room when I answered Bruna's Let's BEE Friends interview questions for my feature on her blog today were wide and wild.  Everyone had their opinions as to who the best was and the reasons why were as varied as the cartoon characters were.

I haven't been able to get a few of those characters off of my mind.  Let's welcome the weekend in with some Friday Fun and take a stroll through a few things that have been created with a couple of these characters in mind.

Tweety Bird
~ one of my nicknames as a kidlet ~

That cake ROCKS!!!

Crayon roll ups are great in the car & for coloring in unexpected places!

How cute would these be at a party!

Wonder Woman
Okay, I realize now, I wasn't thinking of Wonder Woman from the comic or a cartoon, but rather Lynda Carter kicking some butt!

I want one!

This gives me so many ideas for kidlet wallets, party favors, a way to include more pics, journaling, or memorabilia on a scrapbook page!

So sweet. Outwear that reminds me of Underoos. I can't remember if I had Wonder Woman, but I know I had SuperGirl!

And since I'm still singing La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, laaaa...and I do adore Neil Patrick Harris and Project Runway with the fabulous Tim Gunn started last night and Jayma Mays is cute as a button...

...did you sing along?  You did, didn't you.  It's okay, you can admit it.  Wouldn't want you to get blue or anything over it. ;>  Will you be getting Smurf'd and seeing this 'reimagining'?  I promised the kidlets one more trip to the movies this summer, so it's this or Winnie the Pooh.

Happy Friday!  Hope you're on your way to wickedly fun & wildly wonderful weekend!

Teacher's Gifts with Etsy Love {Sunbasilgarden}

Took my boy to school this morning, for his last day there in 2010 and in hand we had his GF/CF Coconut Bliss chocolate 'ice cream' bar for him to eat at the class party and his teachers' gifts.

Often, I hand make their gifts, but I knew that time would run short this year. Thankfully, when I saw Sunbasilgarden's uber cute hand crafted soaps, I knew I had a great solution!

He has two great teachers, one received the Pink Sugar Cupcake Soap and the other the Fresh Pear Cupcake Soap.  Lauren, the woman behind Sunbasilgarden, also sells the four cupcakes as a cute set, packaged in a bakery tray.

His aide received an adorable, don't ya wish it was summer, Lime Water Ice Soap.  And again, Lauren sells an adorable gift set with all four flavors, er..um...I mean scents.

The cupcakes & ice water soaps all came with cute tags on them for me to write on, but since its for Christmas, I replaced them with these adorable retro tags I found online.  Print them on cardstock and simply cut them out or add glitter, Stickles, or use a spica glitter pen to add a little festive flair!

This Pomegranate Paradise Salt Soap is in my shower right now.

And while Lauren is closing up Sunbasilgarden for Christmas in a couple of days, doesn't this Winter Wonderland Soap with scents of peppermint and vanilla sound perfect for January?

Or how about some Hot Chocolate Whipped Soap?

And the bar version of Hot Chocolate Soap....aren't those marshmallows cute?!

Under the Christmas tree are a couple more cute Sunbasilgarden soaps all wrapped up.  Did you do any Etsy shopping this holiday season?

Tickled Pink at 504 Main

And I'm Tickled Pink, bringing all this cuteness to school today and because Holly has featured my art journal cover on her Tickled Pink post today!  I'm quite happy to link up again today...come play, so I can visit you too! :>

Note:  When I made this treasury in Etsy, it was four items across (like most!), but my blog's width only allows for three across, max.  Nevertheless, I'm still happy to share it.  You can also click HERE to see it as it was put together.  Oh yes, and don't forget to check out some of the Etsy sellers who make up that candyland of creativity & handmade goodness! :>

Early this morning, I awoke to a cold nose and when I pulled back the covers, I felt the chill in the air.

We had an unseasonably cool, completely atypical summer here this year. But, even with the marine layer hovering most mornings, leaving the sky dark until it burned off, sometimes into the early afternoon, the cool chill of the mornings did not speak of autumn to me.

This morning, when I pulled back the covers at the early morning hour, it did. I felt fall in the air. And I breathed in deeply.

What makes you *feel* fall is descending and on approach in the land you live?
