Ack! I'm trying to write this post and I have an ultra chaotic '80's mixed tape playing Styx {Mr. Roboto}, the Star Wars theme song....complete with happy little R2-D2 noises, and a good ol' fashioned "Happy Birthday" song playing in my head! Send help quick!
Good thing I've got something super simple to share with you! I honestly do not think I could handle complicated with this track playing rather loudly in my head (oh yea, add in a Star Wars Leapster cartridge sound effect, the Colts @ Dolphins game playing loudly in front of me.....go Reggie Wayne {he just might save our Fantasy Football game tonight!}, and a little girl arguing football with her Daddy).
A month or so ago, I dug through the Michael's clearance bins outside the front of the store and came across a little pack of three dimensional embellishments (Michael's Recollections brand), complete with shaker robot, shaker dinosaur, and little red car, marked down to .79 and I quickly snagged it. I needed a card, and fast, for a super seven year old boy, who loves robots. Clean, crisp and a little simple "Happy Birthday" courtesy of PTI's Borders & Corners Monogram Edition completes this.
To paper crafters, I understand that this could be seen as too simple and without enough paper crafting love. But, let me assure you, this little seven year old boy loved it and immediately started shaking it for a moment.....maybe even two....before he made a beeline for the brightly wrapped present that it was sitting on top of! lol
Hope you all are having a marvelous Monday night, enjoying the game (if you watch/follow NFL), and awake to a terrific Tuesday! As we are in a heat wave here, I would love to know how your part of the world is treating you. I am anxiously awaiting fall and since we are not going to have fall weather to get excited about on the first day of fall tomorrow, might you tease, tempt, and delight me with news of your crisp air, changing colors, and crunchy leaves?

ReplyDeleteOf all that noise I'd vote for the Styx album.... :)
Good luck! And glad that little guy had fun!!!
ps.. It's fall here! Well, at least today! We woke to 30 degrees, then it dropped to 25 during the whole dew point thing...But got up to about 72?
ReplyDeleteTomorrow? In the 80's! Crazy.
I love it! You know that I am all about the white space and simple! I think it is great!! So glad he loved it!!
ReplyDeletehow fab is this? What a find those embellies were, great to keep the card so simple and let it have all the focus.
ReplyDeleteWeather here in Nottingham UK - dull, damp and temps dropped but not cold yet.

ReplyDeleteIt is just perfect! Love that shaker sticker!
ReplyDeleteKaren... my world is all rain, rain and more rain. It didn't bother me at first because we just reseeded our yard, but no it's starting to be depressing!
ReplyDeleteOkay I love that little robot! It's so cute. I really don't think you need anything else!
I think this card is perfect! I love the simplicity of it!
ReplyDeleteEven for the hardcore paper crafter, all things glue and paperpieced, composition and color studied, depth of materials, perspective loving, glitter and bling, stamp-loving maniacs out there... There is just something about a card that simply and beautifully.. DOES THE JOB! No apologies needed, sweet Kare! This is a rockin' little card, no matter what played in the background, ran around in front or behind you.. it just is DELIGHTFUL! Fabulous work!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic card and the robot is so cute! Do you still need help or has the track stopped playing in your head?

Hi Karen :) Your robot is really kewl and I think the white space around gives this little guy all the attention it deserves. Me likey!! Around here, it's coooold and misty in the mornings but warm (like 77°F) in the afternoon, the leaves started to color a bit... fall is making its way!
ReplyDeleteNow, I try to get rid of the star wars theme myself: tata-tataaataa...
Hi, Karen! Sometimes I think simple designs are even more elegant than super-complicated ones! The shaker robot is adorable! Fabulous card! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual embellishment - it's so different from anything I've come across here in the UK.
ReplyDeleteYes, the card is simple but it works! Sometimes I think people get carried away and just pile everything onto their cards and it completely ruins the effect.
This is soo perfect for a little boy!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Vanessa
Such a fun card for a robot obsessed little boy!
ReplyDeleteThis is genious Karen! I can't think of a lovelier card to make for a little boy,
ReplyDeleteJust adorable,
Love Sarita xx
Tee Hee Mr Roboto is taboo here. :) I love your card, simple as it is, it is truly perfect! I hope I can find such gems when I am home in Oct!!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of the design. What a fun robot. I'm a child of the 70s so I'm unfamiliar with your 80s music but if it gets you inspired to create, go for it.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this adorable post? I just love simple and fun cards! This one is both! We are having fall here in Maine, for sure! We had a frost already, so the summer plants are on their way out. The leaves are changing and are very beautiful. Maybe I'll fire up the photo blog...
