Time to change the grid paper I have been working on?? Hmmm?? What do ya think?? It is a poor economy, you know and the environment needs protecting, right? I'm just doing my part to be frugal and green at the same time! Yup, yup. I hear you! Even I think its time for it to be changed!!
Now, for all of you who.....hmmmm......were at the head of the line for neatness, the way I paper craft would probably drive you bonkers! I tend to have stuff everywhere. It does eventually get cleaned up, but while I'm in the proccess of it.......well, I could loose a kidlet under it all! When I go on scrapbooking retreats, the poor gals I ask for advice from risk their very life and limb to come to my table. (I'm so so sorry and thank you for chancing it!)
Since I am between projects (well, sort of....) and this grid paper is puckering everywhere from being soaked in ink and watercolor pearlescent paints, I thought it is a good time to switch it out for a new, fresh, clean sheet (which I will instantly have an overwhelming urge to see some color on!). Before I did though, I couldn't help but smile looking at all the colors and being reminded of several fun projects that I worked on atop this colorful piece of lovely grid paper! So, I whipped out the camera and took a shot to memorialize it and share with all of you! :>
How do you create? Neat as Martha Stewart? Creative chaos ring your bell? Or somewhere in between?

Love this post! I am a Martha Stewart neat-nik on the inside but I tend to create chaos. How can that be? I think I just get lost in the moment...then...I look around and see the mess I've made and immediately have to clean it up! LOL! Glad you took a pic of your grid paper. I have a feeling you will cherish that one for some time. :)
ReplyDeleteAs I just clean up my table, I read this entry! While I love everything to be neat and in it's place, when I am in the midst of creating, my table looks like Michael's exploded!! I pull things out to see if they work and then leave then off to the side. So by the end of the project I have to lift things up to find anything!! Glad to know I'm in good company!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment!
Mimi
I am just like you! You would be quite at home in my scrap space! LOL. I use the 12x12 cardboard that comes in many paper packs, etc. as my mat. I have a very sticky one, inky one, glittery one, and there are many random notes and phone numbers on them...they are handy as a message pad too!
ReplyDeleteI think your mat is very pretty actually - all the colors make it so happy! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeletewhen I'm in the middle of a project my scrapbook room is a mess, I mean mess. But like you mentioned it eventually gets cleaned up.
Hi, cute Kare! I think you really need to embrace the fine artist within: you've really go it, girl! Maybe you should punch some of this out and make a card! I love it! YOU KNOW that when I create, mess ensues, but I love a clean "palette" as a starting point! *You're such a fun blogger!
ReplyDeleteYour grid paper is actually lovely!! I, on the other hand, change mine out after a project or 2! I am a little OCD...my DH calls me "Monica"! I am sure he means it in a loving way!
ReplyDeleteGotta run...I have grid paper to change! ;)
That is pretty impressive! I don't think I could go that long between changing the paper if that was the sort of craft I did. My yarn does tend to get a bit crazy, but it stays in one corner of the house and I have to throw my little odd bits and ends out each night.
ReplyDeleteDitto what Elise said...I'd love to see some of that paper punched out and reapplied to a project. I'll bet you could make it sing one last song. You would be surprised at my current grid paper....I have been working hard to keep my "extras" completely off one full sheet of paper and then have 3 more around it in which I can stamp off and pile my little piles. It's working...sort of LOL Good share here!
ReplyDeleteyou should see my sewing room when I am working on a project...it is a mess! so i guess that could be called creative chaos..the rest of my house is ok (thank goodness i have a door to close for my creative space)
ReplyDeleteHi, Karen! I am definitely a messy crafter. My husband, on the other hand, is a potter and makes beautiful pottery but hardly gets any on him. I cannot explain it! I would look like I had a mud bath. Him? Nada! I like your colorful paper. Maybe you could take some punches to it and use pieces and parts in future projects, too? :-)
ReplyDeleteHeehee! Love your grid paper! When I create, my nickname could be Pigpen--I'm TOTALLY messy!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the grid paper! Can't live without it...
ReplyDeleteAnd, love my messy table.. even though I 'try' to have a neat house..my craft zone is my space and it's heaven to play in the mud, so to speak, and let it fly!!!
I also take photos of my grid papers...just like you.. fun reminders...
And thanks for the sweet reward!
xoxo
I create in chaos! I like my work table neat when I start, but once I get an idea and start putting things together...it's like you said - I could lose a kid under it all! I just love your grid paper. It looks so pretty. I've never used grid paper. Can you make it into something? I guess you made it into a pretty photo! LOL Sorry, now I'm rambling...
ReplyDeletegirl, i am utterly impressed that you can create in that mess. LOL
ReplyDeletei would be totally lost! my mind would have way to much comotion in it to think. teehee. i clean up after EVERY project. lots of time i start to clean BEFORE i have finished it. clean as i go. good for you though. it must mean your brain is big enough to hold so much info!
Karen, you are a kindred spirit! I don't clean up until a. I am having people over to craft of b. I cant find a pair of scissors is which case I clean only until said scissors are found...ironicly
ReplyDeletei love to organize my art supplies, you can imagine my conflict! I think the grid paper is beautiful BTW and I would use it as a background paper for an all about me page, fitting really;)
LOVE that gird paper pic!!! And I think I am FAR from a Neat as Martha creator! More like an ocean of mess from table to floor - a 360 zone of insane chaos! but eventually i have to clean it up - but usually it takes about 9 projects before that happens :) LOVE this post!
ReplyDeleteHa...Martha Stuart? No way! It took me 15 years to kick perfectionism in the head and tell it to get lost! Now I celebrate my messes. They get cleaned up only AFTER I've had the pleasure of making a muck of my workspace.
ReplyDeleteYour grid paper is music to my ears! It is very beautiful!
oxoxoxox
I am sort of in-between. I don't have that fancy-shmancy grid paper like you do ;-), instead I use my junk mail as my stamping surface. When it gets messy, I just put it in the recycle bin. My desk is a bit messy, but I have a rule that after I'm done stamping, the tools and inks get put back where they belong.
ReplyDeleteWow... girl you got some serious good use out of your grid paper. Unfortunately my personality is very organized. Actually it says so on my myers briggs that cluttered space makes me frustrated, so I have to clean. After each craft I have to put everything away. Sometimes I hate that, but it's just the way I work. Great post!
ReplyDeleteyour last post was july 7th where in the world are you?!?! LOL hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteI'm a neat crafter. I tend to feel a bit claustrophic if my stuff starts taking over my desk and will often tidy up a bit in the middle of a project. yeah, I know thats pathetic, LOL!
ReplyDeleteBut I LOVE those colors in that grid paper! The way the rich deep colors almost blend into each other....that might make a cool paper for a project. Maybe punch some images out of it.
